Description Individual will be responsible for negotiating partnership agreements with key mobile distribution partners (mobile carriers, handset manufacturers, retailers and others, including promotions with leading consumer brands) with the support of other members of the business development team and mobile team. Manage and grow revenue from existing channels and partners, making sure revenues exceed plan. Manage costs, making sure costs are below budget. Identifying new revenue streams. Identifying new product features, as well as possible acquisition candidates. Formulating and communicating internally the competitive landscape as well as potential threats and opportunities.

Additional responsibilities will include:
  • Creating sales presentations targeted at potential mobile partners
  • Working with the President and business affairs team to develop term sheets and agreements
  • Working with internal teams (and external partner teams) in marketing, product management, program management and technology groups to secure alignment on pursuing a project and on execution of business plan and particular partnership vision
  • Working with Ericsson to evangelize the Napster Mobile vision with operators in the Americas and Asia, attending meetings relevant to Napster’s mobile projects and creating sales presentations and materials (customized for each operator by territory as needed);

This position is a key member of the Product Management team and reports to the Head of Product Management.

Responsibilities:
  • Drive personalization and community product roadmap, including market segmentation and sizing, market and competitive analysis, technology trends to achieve product line goals
  • Manage product requirement definition and feature identification for future personalization initiatives, including documentation of prioritized feature sets and user stories for upcoming web services. Includes educating team on recommendations, guiding discussions to consensus and driving action items
  • Build automated predictive analysis capabilities within recommendation engine to deliver superior personalized music recommendations
  • Uncover community trends through benchmarking, networking, and research – including online forums, user feedback, and customer interaction. Guide user generated content strategy across community and user touch points.
  • Document requirements for user experience, including customer use cases. Understand how users perceive, use, and value our personalization and community services – and empower our users to enhance their personalization capabilities.
  • Develop an overall music market understanding specifically around personalization and recommendation technology and community/social networking, including a strong understanding of customer needs, competitive analysis, secondary market research and analysis, and primary market research and industry assessment
  • Lead brainstorming of creative solutions and problem-solving to balance product deliverables and resources with business needs and market window opportunities
  • Develop personalization and community-based metrics to measure feature effectiveness, community engagement and value of recommendation engine
Position Requirements:
  • Five to eight years product management or product marketing experience required, preferably with Internet sites or web-based applications
  • Experience with personalization technology and/or recommendation systems; candidate should also have a strong understanding of influencing factors and algorithms, and logic to drive a world-class recommendation engine
  • Experience with online community development and community applications/platforms; candidate should also have a deep understanding of web culture, customers, and online digital media behavior
  • Superior creative and innovative problem-solving skills
  • Proven history of bringing new products to established and emerging markets based on unmet customer needs
  • Ability to prioritize among competing opportunities, balance consumer needs with business priorities, and articulate the rationale behind decisions
  • Proven ability to lead, to take a stand or advocate a feature, and present market facts and data to back up your position
  • Experience working in a data-driven environment, ideally with quantitative research experience. Experience with agile development methodologies a plus.
  • Excellent organizational, statistical, strategic thinking, problem-solving, analytical, written and oral presentation skills
  • Must be resourceful, self-motivated and able to be successful in a non-traditional entrepreneurial team-based environment
  • BA or BS degree or equivalent, MBA strongly desired
  • Good natured, sociable, creative and diligent individual who is driven, detail-oriented, and dedicated
